This is an excerpt from Howard Berg’s corporate program, Turning Information Overload Into Information Assets.
Does it seem as though you never get ahead? Has stress, anxiety or depression due to work or school just become a fact of life? Have you been looking for a way to carve out more time for those things you want to do?
Did you answer, “YES”? Then read on…
Information overload has become an increasing problem for our modern society and businesses. The subject of information overload and its effects on us has been studied since the 1960′s. Consider today’s high tech lifestyle with radio, we cable, the Internet, mobile devices information is everywhere.
A study released from the University of California, San Diego this year says the average American is bombarded with 34 GB of information each day. That means at the end of 1 week, you’ve had a lap top’s hard drive worth of information buzzing around you! E-mails, cell phone alerts, corporate correspondence, radio, television, Internet all contribute. And just when you think you’ve covered all your bases – believe it or not, too much information can be as bad as too little.
Intel has put a $1 billion dollar price tag on information overload’s effects on their employee’s efficiency. In addition to reduced productivity, information overload has been linked to stress, anxiety, depression, addictions and even physical illness. It seems to have become a pay or play proposition. Either find ways of reducing the overload, or pay literally through lost production and reduced quality of life. So what’s the answer?
The brain can actually handle large volumes of information and can process this information faster than you may realize. Great advances have been made in the area of learning, memory and recall. Howard Berg has been on the cutting edge of developing skills and strategies to help you to turn information overload into information assets.
To help give you a leg up on your work or school organization, Mr. Reader has released one of Howard’s brain mapping secrets from his advanced learning program to be released later this year.
